March Market Message

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a representative of the Middletown Christ Reformed UCC church, and was asked if I would be willing to take over the role of Market Manager for the upcoming season.  When I stated “Absolutely,” I was asked if I knew what I’d be getting myself into.  (It’s amazing how much time and effort a volunteer position such as this one can take up.)  All kidding aside, I was told that Katherine Phillips had decided it was time to step-down, and I was honored to be considered for this role.

As you probably know, Katherine has been our Market Manager for the last several years, and from a vendor (Spruce Run Farm) perspective, she has done a wonderful job growing the market into an even larger success than it had been in the past.  (I suspect growing things is something she knows all about after all, she is a Master Gardener and the proprietor of Native Perrenials.)

Please join me in applauding Katherine for the excellent job she did during her tenure.

In case you’ve missed the giant countdown at the top of our home page, the 2016 season of the Middletown Farmers’ Market will run weekly on Thursdays from May 5 until October 13.  Market hours will continue to be 4 to 7 p.m., as in the past.  All of this year’s vendors are already busy planting, growing, crafting, and planning for the season ahead.  We look forward to the support of all of our past customers—we’ve missed you over the winter.  If you haven’t been to the market yet, we encourage you to check us out this year—we’re sure you’ll become a regular too!

Beginning April 1, we will post Spotlight articles about our awesome vendors for the year, on this website. Please be sure to check back so that you can begin to get to know them, and find out what's in store for the season.

Lastly, if you are interested in becoming a vendor, you are encouraged to contact me at manager@middletownmdfarmersmarket.com for an application.

This Season, Come Grow With Us!
